LOCAL GOVERNMENT ELECTIONS

CALL FOR NOMINATIONS

Elections will be held on Saturday 17^th October 2009 to fill the following vacancies on the Council of the Shire of Kulin.

Central Ward......................... One Councillor......................           One Four Year Term

West Ward............................ Two Councillors....................           Two Four Year Terms

Town Ward........................... One Councillor......................           One Four Year Term

Elections will be conducted as Voting in Person Elections.

Nominations for these vacancies open on Thursday 3^rd September 2009 and close at 4.00 pm on Thursday 10^th September 2009.

To nominate, candidates are required to lodge with the Returning Officer:

·         a completed nomination in the prescribed form which has been signed and witnessed (forms are available from all local government offices and the WA Electoral Commission);

·         a single A4 page profile of the candidate, containing not more than 150 words of information about the candidate;

·         where a nomination is lodged on a candidate’s behalf by an agent, a written authorisation signed by the candidate.

The documents may be hand delivered, posted, faxed or sent by other means, if available.

Nominations must also be accompanied by a nomination deposit of $80.00, which must be received by the Returning Officer before the close of nominations. (Deposit must be in cash, money order or cheque.)
